Dolphins sign Lawrence Timmons to two-year, $12 million contract

The Miami Dolphins signed linebacker Lawrence Timmons, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers, to a two-year, $12 million contract that includes $11 million guaranteed.

What It Means:

Timmons turns 31 in May and might not have too much left in the tank, so we'll see how Miami intends to use him. Despite starting all 16 games as an every-down player for Pittsburgh in 2016, he was a bit of a liability for the defense.

The Dolphins finished last season ranked 18th in schedule-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
