Bears made Mike Glennon deal team-friendly

Chicago Bears quarterback Mike Glennon's three-year, $45 million deal includes $18.5 million guaranteed, but $16 million of those guarantees are in year one.

What It Means:

After 2017, Glennon's only guaranteed money is a $2.5 million roster bonus due next offseason, so they could realistically cut him pain-free if the first year is a disaster. It's still a lot of money for an unproven commodity, but the Bears were wise to not commit for the long-term.

In 219 drop backs in 2014, Glennon earned 0.00 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back. As a team last season, Chicago averaged -0.01 Passing NEP per drop back.
