Washington signed defensive back D.J. Swearinger, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals, to a three-year, $13.5 million contract.
Swearinger is entering his fifth NFL campaign, but remains only 25 years old and graded out positively both against the pass and run last season, according to Pro Football Focus.
Washington was 24th in the league last season in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points allowed per play.
