Martellus Bennett, Raiders share mutual interest
The Oakland Raiders and free agent tight end Martellus Bennett hold "heavy mutual interest," reports Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
Bennett's capabilities as both a blocker and pass-catcher would improve Oakland's running game while also providing Derek Carr with another imposing target in the red zone. He would be a significant upgrade at tight end over 2016 starter Clive Walford. The San Francisco 49ers are also reportedly interested.
Among the 43 tight ends to earn 30 targets or more in 2016, Bennett's 0.78 Reception Net Expected Points per target was the ninth-best rate.
