Bears officially bring Jay Cutler era to an end
The Chicago Bears released quarterback Jay Cutler.
What It Means:
The end of Cutler's eight-year tenure with the Bears will open the door for Mike Glennon to lead the way in Chicago. Despite another miserable campaign from Cutler in 2016, filled with the usual ineffectiveness and poor health, the New York Jets are apparently interested in his services.
Among the 39 quarterbacks to top 100 drop backs last season, Cutler's Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back ranked fourth-worst.
