The Philadelphia Eagles released defensive end Connor Barwin.
Barwin's release saves the Eagles $7.75 million against the cap, so it comes as no surprise. They tried and failed to trade Barwin, as everyone knew a release was inevitable. He struggled mightily on the end in a 4-3 front, but someone will give him a try as a 3-4 edge rusher.
Despite Barwin's personal struggles, the Eagles defense finished fifth in the NFL last season in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points allowed per play.
