Martellus Bennett confirms he's not returning to Patriots
Free agent tight end Martellus Bennett confirmed he won't re-sign with the New England Patriots.
Bennett's fate in New England was sealed once they acquired Dwayne Allen from the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday. The one-year rental worked for both sides, as Bennett filled in admirably for a hobbled Rob Gronkowski while helping the Patriots to a fifth Super Bowl title. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and New York Giants have all been mentioned as possible landing spots for Bennett.
Among the 43 tight ends to earn 30 targets or more in 2016, Bennett's 0.78 Reception Net Expected Points per target was the ninth-best rate.
