Free agent running back Adrian Peterson and the New England Patriots have "nothing going on," according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
The Boston Herald reported Monday that Peterson would "consider" taking a discount to sign with the Patriots, but Garafolo is clarifying that no discussions have taken place. LeGarrette Blount is expected to walk, so Peterson could make sense as a replacement back for early downs.
There were 88 running backs to notch at least 30 rushing attempts last year. Peterson earned -0.39 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt, by far the worst rate among that group.
