Broncos trading for Dallas' Tony Romo could send Trevor Siemian to 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers would have interest in trading for quarterback Trevor Siemian if the Denver Broncos land Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, reports Mike Klis of 9 News Denver.
It sounds like there will be an expected trigger effect once Romo lands elsewhere, as a similar report suggested Houston Texans quarterback Tom Savage being sent to San Francisco if Dallas' long-time signal-caller joins the in-state competition. Siemian wasn't exactly impressive during his first year as a starter in 2016, but he would likely provide an upgrade over what the 49ers got out of Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert last season.
Siemian came in 26th in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs in 2016. As a team, Denver finished 24th in Adjusted Passing NEP per play, while San Francisco was 28th.
