Blake Bortles

Jaguars counting on Blake Bortles bounce-back season

The Jacksonville Jaguars are "counting on" a bounce-back year from quarterback Blake Bortles, owner Shad Khan said.

What It Means:

"That’s our hope. Blake has to organize himself. There’s only so much we can do under the CBA," said Khan. Bortles has spent the offseason working on his mechanics with passing guru Tom House. The Jaguars want him to limit his turnovers after committing 22 last year, but Bortles won't face any competition going into training camp. Bortles is in a make-or-break 2017.

Bortles had the 10th-worst Passing Net Expected Points per drop back this season among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs. As a team, the Jaguars ranked 24th in the NFL in schedule-adjusted Offensive Net Expected Points per play.
