Trey Burton

Trey Burton receives second-round tender from Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles extended a second-round tender to restricted free agent tight end Trey Burton.

What It Means:

25-year-old Burton earned a prominent role in the Eagles' passing game last year, setting career highs in catches (37) and yards (327). An undrafted free agent in 2014, the Eagles would have risked losing Burton on a low tender. He'll return on a one-year, $2.81 million deal.

Burton's 0.47 Reception Net Expected Points per target was the ninth-lowest rate among the 43 tight ends to see at least 30 targets last year. This was well below the league average of 0.62.
