Danny Woodhead in extension talks with Chargers

The San Diego Chargers are in contract talks with free agent running back Danny Woodhead.

What It Means:

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco confirmed he "made an offer" to Woodhead at the Combine. Woodhead is reportedly ahead of schedule in his ACL recovery. He shouldn't cost much to retain as a 32-year-old coming off injury. Woodhead would likely return to a reduced pass game role after Melvin Gordon's 2016 breakout.

Woodhead saw just 19 rushes and 8 targets before succumbing to the injury in 2016, but generated 0.18 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt and 0.35 Reception NEP per target on them.
