Chiefs again say Alex Smith will remain starter next season

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith will "be our starter going into 2017," said team CEO Clark Hunt.

What It Means:

Hunt is in tune with head coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey, who have all made it clear Smith will remain the Chiefs' starter moving forward. His 67.1 completion percentage last season was the second-best of Smith's career.

Smith's game manager ways led him to a 0.14 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back in 2016, just above the league average of 0.12. This was 16th-best among 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs.
