Alshon Jeffery won't receive franchise tag from Bears
The Chicago Bears will not use the franchise tag on free agent wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
According to ESPN Bears reporter Jeff Dickerson, the two sides haven't discussed an extension in weeks. It sounds like Jeffery's days in Chicago are done, but he should do just fine on the open market as the best wide receiver available. The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to be one of Jeffery's most interested suitors.
Jeffery finished the year ranked 19th in Reception Net Expected Points per target among the 60 receivers to see at least 80 targets.
