Julius Thomas

Jaguars traded Julius Thomas to Dolphins because of poor blocking

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Julius Thomas' poor blocking was one reason the Jaguars decided to move on from him, according to the Florida Times Union.

What It Means:

One source said Thomas's presence on the field was a "giveaway" to the defense that the Jaguars were passing or running away from him. Instead of the every-down player Jacksonville envisioned when signing him to a five-year, $46 million contract, Thomas only played about 25-32 snaps a game for the Jags while battling injuries. It's been a tough couple of years for Thomas, but maybe reuniting with Adam Gase on the Miami Dolphins will benefit him.

Thomas averaged 0.42 Net Expected Points per target last season, finishing 29th out of the 32 tight ends with at least 50 targets.
