Giants sign safety Brandon Meriweather
The New York Giants signed veteran safety Brandon Meriweather on Sunday.
The team lost rookie Mykkele Thompson in their preseason opener for the year. He tore his Achilles. Just about everybody else in the secondary is banged up, as well.
Last year, the Giants ranked 22nd in our schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play metric, which indicates how a team fares relative to expectation level. In 10 games last year with Washington, Meriweather recorded 55 tackles, 3 sacks, 4 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles.
