Bears' Jay Cutler may not play at all in 2017
Chicago Bears impending free agent quarterback Jay Cutler might not play at all in 2017, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
"He's one of several veterans who are still considering whether they want to play," Rapoport continued. "It is a consideration. It's something he's confided in people." Cutler has battled multiple injuries over the past couple seasons and he will be 34 in April, but deciding to call it a career would be no less of a surprise. More likely than not, Cutler is trying to sink his trade value and force the Bears to release him. Although he's well past his prime, there should be plenty of quarterback-needy teams who are interested in the veteran's services.
Among the 39 quarterbacks to top 100 drop backs last season, Cutler's Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back ranked fourth-worst.
