Kirk Cousins won't sign long-term deal ahead of tag deadline
Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins will not sign a long-term deal prior to the March 1 deadline for the team to apply the franchise tag, reports Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Cousins holds all the leverage in negotiations and the belief is that he wants to play out another year under the tag and then test the open market next offseason. At this point, it seems a 50/50 proposition at best that Washington can sign Cousins to a long-term deal.
Cousins earned the sixth-most Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times in 2016.
