San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is "open to returning to the [team] in 2017," reports Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee.
The expectation has been that Kaepernick will opt out of his contract, but he and new general manager John Lynch are expected to have a meeting sometime in the near future to discuss things. If head coach Kyle Shanahan wants to keep Kaep, then perhaps the new 49ers regime will be able to convince him to stay in San Francisco.
Kaepernick's Passing Net Expected Points per drop back ranked 28th among the 39 quarterbacks to drop back 100 times this year.
