New York Giants running back Paul Perkins is the "clear-cut number-one" following the release of Rashad Jennings, wrote James Kratch of NJ Advance Media.
Perkins leaped Jennings on the depth chart by the end of the season, and he'll maintain that spot heading into the spring. Despite Jennings' release, the Giants will likely utilize a committee approach in the backfield again in 2017, so expect them to bring in another back this offseason. Shane Vereen will continue serving as a passing-down specialist if he is retained.
Perkins earned -0.02 Rushing Net Expected Points per carry last season, finishing third in his own backfield. He ranked 28th out of the 54 running backs to see at least 80 carries.
