Raiders would like to bring back Latavius Murray

Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie explained that the team "want[s] to re-sign our own players" while discussing impending free agent running back Latavius Murray.

What It Means:

"When you're talking about a guy who is 6-foot-3, close to 230 pounds, there's not a whole lot of similar you can get there," McKenzie said specifically of Murray. "There's 31 other teams out there who may be communicating to his representatives. We'll see where it goes, but we like to re-sign our guys." This comes just a day after Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle said he expects the Raiders to move on from Murray this offseason. Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are the other two backs in Oakland's backfield.

Murray ranked 12th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt this past season, among the 42 running backs with at least 100 rushing attempts in 2016. As a team, the Raiders finished 15th in schedule-adjusted Rushing NEP per play.
