Giants save $7.5 million by releasing Victor Cruz
The New York Giants released wide receiver Victor Cruz.
Despite Cruz's desire to remain in New York, the writing was on the wall with this move, which saves the Giants $7.5 million against the cap. Now 30-years-old and coming off multiple numerous lower-body injuries, Cruz might not have a plethora of interested suitors on the open market. Sterling Shepard played over 80 percent of his rookie snaps in the slot, so expect the Giants to focus on adding an outside receiver opposite Odell Beckham.
Among the 56 wide receivers with between 25 and 75 targets this past season, Cruz's Reception Net Expected Points per target ranked 25th.
