Miami Dolphins cornerback Byron Maxwell said "we can be something great," when talking about the Dolphins' secondary.
He compared Miami's secondary to Seattle's Legion of Boom, saying: "We can be talked about how they talked about us in Seattle. We’ve just got to find a nickname." Maxwell is overselling it but the Dolphins do have some interesting pieces in place. Maxwell bounced back after struggling a year earlier while Tony Lippett improved as the season went on. Strong safety Reshad Jones missed most of the season with a shoulder injury but is one of the better defensive backs in football when healthy. After making the playoffs for the first time in eight years, the Dolphins look like a team on the rise.
The Dolphins' defense ranked 16th in the league in opponent-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play.
