Prince Amukamara likely to receive big payday by leaving Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Prince Amukamara will command $8-9 million annually on his next contract, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times Union believes.
Amukamara had to settle for a one-year, $5 million deal last offseason but rebuilt his value after playing well and mostly staying healthy in 2016. The Jaguars recently brought in Amukamara's former New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin as the team's executive vice president. Former Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell was also hired as the new defensive backs coach. Perhaps those moves will convince Amukamara to stay in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville's defense was much-improved in 2017, ranking 14th in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points per play.
