Seahawks guarantee Jeremy Lane's 2017 salary
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane's $4 million salary for 2017 became guaranteed on Friday.
What It Means:
Lane had a rough year for Seattle, grading out as Pro Football Focus's 104th cornerback out of 120 qualifiers. Head coach Pete Carroll criticized Lane's tackling but praised him for competing his "tail off" in 2016. With DeShawn Shead's (knee) status up in the air for the start of 2017, keeping Lane was a no-brainer for the Seahawks.
The Seahawks' secondary ranked just 15th this season in opponent-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play, though that mostly nosedived after free safety Earl Thomas' season-ending injury.
