Jets aren't interested in Bears' Jay Cutler

The New York Jets "won't be suitors" for Chicago Bears impending free agent quarterback Jay Cutler, reports Rich Cimini of ESPN.

What It Means:

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports suggested the Jets may be a "possibility" for Cutler due to Jeremy Bates being hired as the team's quarterbacks coach on Wednesday. Bates and Cutler have extensive history working together, but it seems La Canfora was merely speculating more than anything. While Cutler remains unlikely to return to Chicago, the Jets don't make for a probable landing spot either.

Among the 39 quarterbacks to top 100 dropbacks this season, Cutler's Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per dropback ranked fourth-worst. As a team, the Jets finished third-worst in schedule-adjusted Passing NEP per play.
