Atlanta plans on extending Devonta Freeman, Desmond Trufant
Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff is optimistic about extending the contracts of running back Devonta Freeman and cornerback Desmond Trufant this offseason.
Freeman and Trufant are both entering the final years of their deals, but Dimitroff is confident about extending both. He says the team is "in good space" with Freeman, and that they expect to extend Trufant "very soon." The Falcons would be wise to lock both players up for the long haul.
Freeman ranked fifth in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry this year among the 42 running backs to attempt 100 rushes in 2016. On the other side of the ball, the Falcons finished 22nd in Defensive Passing NEP allowed per play.
