Tom Savage will get 'every opportunity' to start for Texans
Houston Texans quarterback Tom Savage will get "every opportunity" to win the starting job in 2017, reports Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.
Head coach Bill O'Brien is a "big believer" in New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, per La Canfora, but Brock Osweiler's salary will likely prevent the Texans from making a serious run at him. Savage is a lateral move from Osweiler, so expect Houston to look elsewhere to try and solve their quarterback issue.
Savage and Osweiler put up identical -0.04 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back rates in the regular season, but Osweiler sustained that rate over 459 more drop backs than Savage.
