Browns planning on trading for Patriots' Jimmy Garoppolo
The Cleveland Browns will "try to trade for" New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason, reports Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Garoppolo is expected to draw plenty of trade interest this offseason, but the Browns posses the 1st and 12th picks in the first round of the draft, giving them an advantage over the competition. They probably wouldn't give up the top pick, but the 12th pick packaged with a third- or fourth- round selection would likely get head coach Hue Jackson his quarterback of the future. Andrew Brandt of The Monday Morning Quarterback said last week that he doesn't believe Garoppolo will fetch a first-round pick.
If Garoppolo were eligible, his 0.44 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back would have ranked first among quarterbacks this season.
