Jaguars believe Blake Bortles 'can win a Super Bowl'
Jacksonville Jaguars general manager David Caldwell believes the team "can win a Super Bowl" with Blake Bortles at quarterback.
"I think the future is bright for him," Caldwell said. "I have a lot of confidence in him." He then hedged by admitting Bortles "need to improve" to reach that lofty goal, which is a severe understatement. Either way, Caldwell's comments endorse those of new Jaguars head honcho Tom Coughlin, who referred to Bortles as "our quarterback." It's become apparent that the team will be picking up his fifth-year option this offseason.
Bortles had the 10th-worst Passing Net Expected Points per drop back this season among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs. As a team, the Jaguars ranked 24th in the NFL in schedule-adjusted Offensive Net Expected Points per play.
