Packers say they would 'love to see' Eddie Lacy (ankle) back next season

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he would "love to see" impending free agent Eddie Lacy (ankle) re-sign with the team this offseason.

What It Means:

McCarthy acknowledged that a decision won't be made until Lacy "clears the medical threshold" for his ankle injury. The bum ankle -- combined with long-term conditioning concerns -- won't help Lacy's value on the open market, so the Packers may be able to get him back without committing too much time or money. Lacy and Ty Montgomery would form a solid one-two punch in Green Bay's backfield.

Among the 60 running backs with at least 70 carries this season, Lacy's 0.08 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt ranked 10th, finishing one spot ahead of teammate Ty Montgomery.
