Cardinals hopeful that Carson Palmer returns for 2017
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is considering a return in 2017, head coach Bruce Arians hopes.
"The way he played down the stretch makes you believe he’s coming back, but he got beat up pretty good last year," said Arians. "So you never know." Palmer's last words to Arians before the offseason were "I'll let you know soon." Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has also been noncommittal about returning.
Palmer looked sluggish at times in 2016 but finished with 26 touchdown passes and 4,233 passing yards. His 0.11 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back ranked 21st out of the 39 quarterbacks to drop back at least 100 times in 2016.
