Branden Oliver likely to remain with Chargers
San Diego Chargers running back Branden Oliver "has a good shot" to be back with the team through restricted free agency next season, ESPN's Eric Williams said.
Coming off an Achilles' tear, Oliver likely will not take more than the lowest tender to retain. That would be a smart investment for the Chargers with veteran Danny Woodhead set to hit free agency and little else in the backfield. Oliver could play an important role behind starter Melvin Gordon in 2017.
Oliver's last regular-season action came in 2015, where he generated -0.03 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt and 0.36 Reception NEP per target on a combined 46 opportunities.
