NFL still investigating Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott for assault
The NFL is still investigating assault allegations against Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Elliott has been accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and the league is still looking into the matter. The NFL submitted follow-up questions to Elliott within the last month and is still waiting on his response. Elliott maintains he did nothing wrong and has cooperated with the league throughout their investigation. The situation is unlikely to be resolved until after the Super Bowl, meaning that if Elliott does face any sort of punishment from the league, it won't occur until next season.
Elliott was a big part of the Cowboys' run-heaviest offense this year, carrying the ball 322 times. If he misses any time next year, that will be a big blow to the Dallas offense.
