Detroit Lions wide receiver Marvin Jones said of his 2016 season, "in terms of my standards, it wasn't good at all."
"When you look at how I started, you wouldn't think it would end this way," Jones said, having picked up 408 of his 930 receiving yards in his first three games. "Obviously, I had some uncharacteristic drops here and there.... I don't know what to say." Jones is still only 27 (in March), but he's now looked like more of a role player than true top receiver with two different teams. There's no real reason to expect a step forward in 2017.
Among the 68 wide receivers to see at least 100 targets in 2016, Jones's Reception Net Expected Points per target was a solid 15th. We'd hardly call that a bad season.
