Bengals expect to trade A.J. McCarron in 2016-17 offseason

The Cincinnati Bengals are making trading quarterback A.J. McCarron "a part of the offseason itinerary", according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner.

What It Means:

Per Dehner, a McCarron deal will come down to a "matter of when, where and who will provide the most value" on the trade market. After showing reasonably well as a game manager in three spot starts in 2015, McCarron tossed three touchdowns and no interceptions with a 65.5 percent completion rate this preseason. McCarron might command a second- or third-round pick but is unlikely to fetch a first-rounder.

On 131 drop backs in 2015, McCarron posted 0.14 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back, the 12th-best mark among the 46 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs last year.
