Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins needs to "improve seeing coverages," and making off-script plays to take his game to the "next level," head coach Jay Gruden believes.
Nonetheless, Gruden spent more time praising Cousins than critiquing him at his season-ending presser. Washington has made no secret of their desire to lock Cousins up long-term. Despite his sometimes polarizing play, Cousins is going to get paid and deserve it.
Cousins' 0.24 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back was sixth-best among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs in 2016.
