Broncos excited about Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch's future
Denver Broncos general manager John Elway said he is "excited" about the quarterbacks he has on the roster heading into the offseason.
"Last year it was my biggest concern," Elway said. "This year it's not." Despite that optimism, Elway will certainly consider adding a veteran option if the opportunity presents itself. The Broncos have a win-now defense, and despite exceeding expectations, Trevor Siemian did not look like the quarterback to take them to the next level. Rookie Paxton Lynch may develop into that guy, but he looked overmatched in two starts. If Denver does stand pat, Lynch will likely be given a real shot to win the starting job by the new coaching staff.
Siemian created 0.06 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back this year on 517 drop backs, which ranks 26th among the 39 quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs. Lynch didn't make this cut, at just 92 plays, but his 0.02 Passing NEP per drop back would be 29th if he did qualify.
