Darren Fells has edge for Cardinals starting tight end job
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said second-year tight end Darren Fells is going to be "hard to beat" for the starting spot.
Fells only recorded five receptions during his rookie season, and he is viewed more as a blocker than a pass-catcher. The Cardinals signed Jermaine Gresham this offseason, and he will likely be the third-down passing option in the Cardinals offense.
The Cardinals ranked 20th in our schedule-adjusted Passing Net Expected Points metric last season. We project Fells to finish the year with an unimpressive 17 receptions, 160 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. Gresham is viewed as more of a threat for fantasy purposes.
