49ers' Vance McDonald (shoulder) placed on injured reserve
The San Francisco 49ers placed tight end Vance McDonald on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
McDonald suffered the year-ending injury literally one day after signing a five-year, $35 million extension. An athletic mismatch with some blocking ability but inconsistent hands, McDonald's future outlook depends on where the 49ers' leadership heads.
McDonald was not targeted in Week 14 before exiting action. McDonald ranked seventh in Reception Net Expected Points per target coming into this week among the 37 tight ends with at least 30 targets.
