Jets' Marcus Gilchrist ruptures patellar tendon in Week 14

New York Jets free safety Marcus Gilchrist suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in Week 14.

What It Means:

It's a horrendous injury that will put Gilchrist's status for 2017 training camp in question. Gilchrist has two years left on a four-year, $22 million contract he signed in 2015. One of the team's only useful cover guys, the Jets may have to approach Gilchrist as anything he contributes next year as a bonus.

Even without Gilchrist, the Jets held the San Francisco 49ers to -5.93 Net Expected Points on 26 passing plays in Week 14, per numberFire Live.
