Ryan Mathews (knee, ankle) expected to play, not feature, in Eagles' game
Philadelphia Eagles running back Ryan Mathews (knee, ankle) will play in Sunday's game against Washington, but not in a "primary role", ESPN's Adam Schefter expects.
Mathews wasn't in doubt after head coach Doug Pederson said he was "ready to go" earlier this week. The Eagles are going to keep Wendell Smallwood involved despite Mathews returning this week. There's workload concerns with Mathews coming off injury but he should still see red-zone work.
Our models project Mathews as the 39th-best running back for fantasy this week, with a projection of 38 yards from scrimmage and 0.26 touchdowns on 8 total touches. The matchup is promising, as Washington's defense ranks 27th in schedule-adjusted Rushing Net Expected Points allowed per play.
