Adrian Peterson (knee, IR) won't return in 2016 if Vikings are eliminated
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (knee, injured reserve) said he won't return this season if the team is eliminated from playoff contention before he is ready.
Peterson is now making cuts and reportedly isn't limited on the field, causing some to believe he may be available as soon as Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts. When asked if he still plans to play this season, Peterson said, "That's something I envision." The Vikings (6-6) are currently one game out of the Wild Card spot with four weeks left in the regular season, so there appears to be a good chance Peterson plays at some point.
Among the 74 running backs with at least 30 rushing attempts this season, Peterson's -0.29 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt rank a woeful 73rd.
