Saints could explore trading Brandin Cooks this offseason
The New Orleans Saints could explore trading wide receiver Brandin Cooks this offseason, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes.
Cooks has been vocal about his shrinking role in the Saints' offense, which has led some to question his long-term future in New Orleans. As Rapsheet puts it, "there are only so many balls to go around." It makes sense for the Saints to see what they can get for Cooks this offseason; they did something similar when they traded tight end Jimmy Graham in 2015. Cooks is on pace for 30 fewer targets than last season.
For all his troubles, Cooks ranks 11th in Reception Net Expected Points per target among the 72 wide receivers with at least 50 targets heading into Week 13.
