Brandin Cooks frustrated with role on Saints

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks has "growing frustration" with his role in the offense, ESPN's Mike Triplett reports.

What It Means:

Per Triplett, "this isn't a new issue." Cooks somehow wasn't targeted in Sunday's 49-point explosion and is averaging fewer weekly looks than either Michael Thomas and Willie Snead. While the Los Angeles Rams made a concerted effort to shut him out of the game, there isn't an obvious fix. Quarterback Drew Brees has three excellent receivers and is wisely spreading the ball around. That being said, it's hard not to envision the squeaky wheel getting some grease this week against the lackluster Detroit Lions in Week 13.

Our models project Cooks as the eighth-best receiver for fantasy purposes this week, with a line of 77 receiving yards and 0.64 touchdowns on 5 catches. Detroit is second-last in schedule-adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points per play going into this week.
