Tony Romo concedes Cowboys' starting spot to Dak Prescott
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said Dak Prescott had earned the team's starting job, speaking in an emotional Tuesday press conference.
"As hard as that is for me to say, he’s earned that right," Romo, choked up, said as he read a pre-written statement. "To say the first half of this season has been emotional would be a huge understatement." The Cowboys officially have the best backup quarterback in the league. Although he's 36 and injury prone, Romo should attract widespread starting interest if he continues his career in 2017.
Prescott has generated 0.35 Passing Net Expected Points per drop back this season, ranking second among quarterbacks with at least 100 drop backs.
