Jets begin bye week with uncertainty at quarterback position

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles declined to name a starting quarterback on Monday.

What It Means:

Although the pickings are slim, the Jets are hopeful that the bye week will help sort things out under center. Ryan Fitzpatrick has officially turned back into a pumpkin after his Cinderella 2015 season and is now hobbled by an MCL sprain. Bryce Petty made his first career start in Week 10, but didn't provide much of an upgrade. Fourth-round rookie Christian Hackenberg is not even an option, according to head coach Todd Bowles, despite an already lost season. There is no light at the end of the tunnel for the Jets' offense.

Petty earned -3.05 Net Expected Points on 32 pass attempts in a 9-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
