Bears' Alshon Jeffery caught for doping, suspended four games

Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games for violating the National Football League's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

What It Means:

Jeffery's 2016 campaign has been a clinic on what not to do during a contract year. He's been hobbled by injuries and ineffective performance, finding the end zone just one time this season, despite playing in every game. The once-thought-to-be elite wideout turns 27 in February and just cost himself a lot of free agent dollars this offseason. Eddie Royal and Cameron Meredith will serve as the Bears' top two wide receivers, while Marquess Wilson (foot, PUP) should factor in upon his eventual return. Jeffery can return in Week 15.

Jeffery finished with 3.73 Reception Net Expected Points in Week 10, catching 4-of-9 targets for 47 yards. He has 40 catches on 72 targets for 630 yards and a touchdown this season.
