Tony Romo

Cowboys' Tony Romo (back) receives green light from doctors

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (back) has been medically cleared to return to football, reports ESPN's Ed Werder.

What It Means:

The issue is now a "coaching decision," rather than a "medical decision," per Werder. Dak Prescott has already been named the starter for Week 10 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and he would have to experience some serious regression to be relieved of the starting job after leading Dallas to a 7-1 record. It sounds like Romo will be on clipboard duties this Sunday, meaning the main takeaway here is that Mark Sanchez faces yet another uncetain future.

With Prescott leading the way this season, the Cowboys rank third in the league in Adjusted Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play. Among all quarterbacks with at least 100 dropbacks this season, the rookie ranks third in Passing NEP per dropback, behind only Matt Ryan and Tom Brady.
