The Philadelphia Eagles remain in talks to acquire wide receiver Torrey Smith from the San Francisco 49ers, Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio reports.
Eagles head coach Doug Pederson shot down these reports recently, but admitting trade conversations were ongoing would have put Pederson's team at risk of a tampering penalty. The Eagles remain unsatisfied with their perimeter wideout corps, where Nelson Agholor has badly struggled. The Eagles should be able to get him for a fourth- or fifth-round pick.
Among the 74 wide receivers with at least 30 targets through Week 7, Smith's 0.42 Reception Net Expected Points per target ranks 68th.
